The Church of the Perfect Storm, by Leonard Sweet, 2007 – A powerful and insightful study for every church leader concerned about the ‘category 5’ storm that is whirling in our culture and impacting our churches and the way we do church. ***

The Great Conversation: Using Stories and Illustrations to Explain your Faith, By J.P. Moreland and Tim Muehlohff, 2007.  One of the most insightful books I’ve read in a long time. Practical tips for retooling to reach a post modern culture with the Christian message. ****

The Secular Age,by Charles Taylor, 2007 An awarding winning book by a respected historian. Gives us a historical perspective and powerful understandings of the shifts that we are living in and through in our culture, our families, our churches, our economy etc.  Worth your time but a tough read through a lengthy book. ***

No Perfect People Allowed: Creating a Come as You Are Culture in the Church by John Burke, 2007  - A practical look at ministering to 20 somethings by leaders at Gateway Church. Deals with the tough issues of this generation when it comes to church and faith formation. ***

Tribal Church: Ministering to the Missing by Carol Howard Merritt – 2007. A powerful read for those church leaders seeking to minister to all generations. Inspiring, practical and encouraging us to build bridges to and among all generations as the church. ****

Leadership Essentials: Shaping Vision, Multiplying Influence, Defining Character
  by Greg Ogden and Daniel Meyer, IVP, 2007 – A powerful small group study and primer for all Christian leaders inside and outside the walls of the church.  One of the best studies with this focus I have found . ****

Hammett, 2005 – Explore outgrowing the ingrown church, moving from maintenance to mission and develop language and strategies that resonate with the post modern generation. (Of course I would recommend both of my books!)

Reaching People Under 40 While Keeping People Over 60
by Hammett and Pierce – 2007 . A book filled with practical ways of ministering to all generations without minimizing anyone.
