Course Descriptions
Congregational Choices: Transition and Changes for FaithSoaring: When congregations engage in transitions and changes that may lead to transformation they need to know more about the choices available to them that will empower them to be FaithSoaring in a manner that they may reach their full Kingdom potential. This course examines 16 choices for congregations to consider for their Journey using the categories of Stay the Course, Modify the Course, Change the Course, and Plot a New Course. They can use these choices to develop scenarios and a Future Story for their congregation. Taught by George Bullard.
Cultivating Perennial Churches: Your Guide to Long-Term Growth: This course explores the reasons some churches grow perennially—season after season—while most churches don't. It will identify seven principles for perennial strength. Follow the exciting and informative histories of seven perennial congregations. Learn the theology and practices that undergird perennial health and growth. Understand how perennial leaders create root systems to sustain long-term vitality in congregations. Taught by Bob Dale.
Every Congregation Needs a Little Conflict: This course seeks to help congregational leaders develop the capacity to handle healthy conflict, and to know what to do when the periodic unhealthy conflict occurs. A clear assessment is provided of the seven intensities of conflict, strategies and tactics for engaging these intensities, and when and how to seek outside assistance. Conflict in congregations is often messy and emotionally draining. Congregations who use the little conflicts to develop their conflict ministry capacity often handle conflict in a healthy manner. Taught by George Bullard.
Leading Congregations through Crisis: Effective leadership during a church’s unexpected situational crises can make the difference as to whether things get better or worse. This course provides best-practices guidance for leading during, after, and even before crisis strikes. Putting Christ and mission at the center of the conversation, Hunt examines what happens when crisis strikes and how congregational leaders can prepare for future crises, navigate through current ones, and transform crises into opportunities for congregational learning and development. Taught by Greg Hunt.
Reaching People Under 40 While Keeping People Over 60: This course introduces eight basic principles of being church for all generations. How can a congregation effectively address the spiritual and faith community needs so a win/win situation is experienced for all? It is possible. Join us for these five video classes. Participants will discover how to build conversation among different generations, to make shifts without making waves as values are explored for all generations that can open the door to effective ministry. Taught by Eddie Hammett.
The Calling of Congregational Leadership: This course will focus on a multiple meanings of the vocation of ministry for both clergy and lay leaders. The class will give attention to three aspects of functioning effectively as a congregational leader: the being of the leader, the knowledge base for leading, and the multiple doing tasks required of the leader. Primary emphasis is given to the tasks of dreaming or visioning for a missional congregation, caring for the church and community, organizing for the mission, and resourcing the congregation. Taught by Larry McSwain.
Transforming Congregations with a Spiritual Strategic Journey: This course covers elements of an assessment and learning pre-season to prepare congregational leaders for a Spiritual Strategic Journey. This Journey is a process for empowering congregations to reach their full Kingdom potential. The three seasons of the Journey are explained in a way that can—along with the required reading for the course—provide navigation for a congregation to engage in a Spiritual Strategic Journey. The goal is for a congregation to live into their Future Story of ministry as a congregational movement. Taught by George Bullard.
